1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Ghost Detector & EMF Scanner (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (Android package: com.GhostDetector.EMFScanner).

The App provides entertainment-style electromagnetic field (EMF) measurements, compass tools, and optional camera / microphone visualizations for paranormal-themed investigation experiences. The App does not detect real ghosts, spirits, or paranormal entities, and readings should not be treated as scientific proof of paranormal activity.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

2.1 Information processed on your device

• Sensor data (magnetometer and related motion sensors). Used to display live magnetic field strength, charts, compass direction, alerts, and investigation visualizations. Processing occurs on your device.
• Camera (optional). If you grant permission, the camera may be used for on-device visual overlays during investigation features. We do not use the camera to identify people, and camera frames are not uploaded by the App for analysis.
• Microphone / audio (optional). If you grant permission, ambient audio may be used for EVP-style level visualizations and related on-device audio features. Audio is processed locally and is not used to detect paranormal entities.
• App preferences and local history. Settings (units, thresholds, sound/vibration preferences, calibration offsets), measurement sessions, ghost investigation session summaries, and detection history may be stored locally on your device using on-device storage (for example GetStorage / Hive).

2.2 Information collected automatically (via third-party services)

• Device and usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated app usage information such as app opens, screen views, and feature interaction events.
• Crash and diagnostic data. We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash logs, stack traces, and device/app diagnostic details that help us fix bugs and improve stability.
• Push notification tokens. If notifications are enabled, Firebase Cloud Messaging may collect a device push token so we can deliver alerts and service messages.
• Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data. The App displays ads through Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect device advertising identifiers (such as Google Advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device information, and information about how you interact with ads, subject to your device ad preferences and applicable law.

2.3 Information we do not collect

• We do not require account registration or login.
• We do not intentionally collect your name, email address, phone number, or postal address through the App.
• We do not request precise GPS location permission for App features.
• We do not sell your personal information.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide core App features (EMF measurement, compass, graphs, alerts, history).
• Enable optional camera and microphone visualization features you choose to use.
• Remember your preferences and improve performance and reliability.
• Analyze aggregated usage trends and diagnose crashes.
• Deliver push notifications (where permitted).
• Show advertisements that help support free use of the App.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

4. Permissions We May Request

• Internet / network access — ads, analytics, crash reporting, and notifications.
• Camera — optional investigation overlays (on-device).
• Microphone — optional ambient audio / EVP-style features (on-device).
• Notifications — optional alerts and service messages.
• Vibration — haptic alerts when enabled in settings.
• Keep awake / wake lock — optional screen-on during scans.
• Advertising ID — used by advertising partners for ad serving and measurement.

You can deny optional permissions. Some features may be unavailable without them. You can also change permissions later in your device settings.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

• Google (Firebase & AdMob) — analytics, crash reporting, messaging, and advertising services.
• Service providers and advertising partners engaged through Google’s advertising network, who process data under their own privacy policies.
• You, at your request — if you export or share session files (CSV/TXT/JSON or reports) using your device’s share sheet, those files leave the App through the destination you choose.
• Legal authorities — when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

6. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display banner, native, interstitial, rewarded, and/or app-open ads. Ad partners may use cookies, advertising IDs, and similar technologies to serve ads, measure performance, and limit how often you see an ad.

You can manage advertising preferences through your device settings (for example, reset or limit Ad ID / opt out of ad personalization on Android, or limit Ad Tracking on iOS where applicable). Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads entirely; you may still see non-personalized ads.

7. Data Retention

• Local App data (settings, sessions, history) remains on your device until you delete it in-app (where available), clear App storage, or uninstall the App.
• Analytics, crash, messaging, and advertising data are retained by Google and partners according to their retention practices and your account / device settings.

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. Sensor/audio/camera feature data intended for local use is designed to remain on-device; network services (ads, analytics, crash reports, notifications) transmit limited technical data to third parties over the internet.

9. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. International Users

If you use the App outside the country where our servers or service providers operate, your information may be processed in other countries, including the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided by our service providers.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access, correct, or delete certain personal data
• Withdraw consent for optional permissions
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Opt out of personalized advertising

Practically, you can: revoke camera/microphone/notification permissions in device settings; reset advertising ID / limit ad personalization; clear App data; or uninstall the App. For requests related to data held by Google services, you may also need to use Google’s privacy tools.

California residents and users in the EEA/UK may have additional rights under CCPA/CPRA or GDPR. Contact us to make a request. We do not “sell” personal information as that term is commonly understood for cash transactions; advertising technologies may involve “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under some U.S. state laws. You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings.

12. Third-Party Links and Shares

If you use share/export features or open third-party content (including ads), those destinations are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites, apps, or services.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App or store listing when appropriate.
